Senna occidentalis is a pantropical, often invasive, plant known for its diverse medicinal, nutritional, and industrial applications, as well as its strong smell and toxic properties in high doses. It was formerly known as Cassia occidentalis.

Laxative, liver tonic, fever reducer, painkiller, skin conditions, coughs, bone fractures, antibacterial for livestock.

Seeds roasted as coffee substitute; young leaves and shoots eaten in some regions (requires caution due to toxicity).

Protective plant, newborn baths, wound care in some cultures.

Disturbed/waste areas; tropical/subtropical; full sun, well-drained soil; propagated by seeds; highly invasive.
